Since the world cup has ended and many pre-seasons for a lot of teams are about to begin if not begun already and the major leagues beginning in around a months time, I thought I'd create the football thread for the next season.

The season kickoffs for the major leagues:
English Premier League: Saturday August 16th
La Liga: Saturday August 23rd
Bundesliga: Friday August 22nd
Serie A: Sunday August 31st
Ligue 1: Friday August 8th

As the last year's thread, there were confirmed transfers written by reyscarface and I will write them down.

Happy new season.

That should precipitate into 2 not so shiny season as he rebuilds his squad.....

If he ends up incorporating the youth academy into the system the same way Rijkaard did for Barcelona.... that would be a wonderful way to prime the springboard for united.

Ba going to leave to Besiktas, wish him the best. I thank him for the goals against Liverpool, PSG and United in the FA Cup.

Chelsea agree Filipe Luis deal for around £16m.
Very good deal for us I think, yes he is 28 but some of the players that we signed when they were old became great players for us (Ballack, Makelele, Hasselbaink and ZOLA)

With all the signings that are happening I think this is in line to be the best season ever so far.

Why don't you just name them Association Football and American Football threads? No one can complain then.

If RM sign James they are going to look unbelievably strong next season. Falcao and/or a left back would be nice cherries on top.

Is anybody eyeing up Balotelli? AC Milan kinda wanna get rid of him now...

RM have signed Kroos as well, apparently. They will be a force next season.
I think Balotelli would be good for Arsenal tbh but I don't know if Wenger can get the best out of him.

Balotelli is one of the few players in the market worth less now than before the World Cup, lol.

What's the deal with James, btw? Is Di María leaving for PSG confirmed or is he going to another club? I'm very interested in how Real and Barça will work will all these new signings, while Aleti only lost a couple of players but could build a much stronger counterattack with Iturbe and Ángel Correa—provided he's fit and isn't given on a loan for the first semester.

Chelsea's siginings are few but controversial, I'm expecting the team to perform very differently from the way it did last season. Can't tell if that will be good or bad yet tho, lol.

No chance, Wenger has got Giroud, Sanchez, Sanogo and Campbell and Podolski and Walcott too. Buying Sanchez was already a surprise for me, and if I can read Wenger like a book (and I can) then that's his attacking signings 100% done for the summer. Khedira is a massive surprise too, but a good one if it really happens. With Debuchy and Manquillo too, I guess the only signings we would want is a CB and a keeper. I would like Vermaelen to stay but I don't think he's happy at Arsenal anymore...

Chelsea are favourites by far, they have strengthened massively as usual. The one team I could possibly see underperform this year is City like after their last PL win. Especially if Yaya leaves and Aguero is always injured and their strikers are never happy and Clichy and Kolarov still not up to standard and Kompany and Hart continuing their poor form... A lot of ifs and buts but it could happen.

The James thing is just speculation but RM always splash the cash every summer and they're selling players too. I think Di Maria and Khedira both really want to leave but Ancelotti wants them to stay.

Iturbe is going to Roma and Di Maria is still a Real Madrid as things stand but PSG and United are interested in him..
Why are our signing's controversial? lol

Iturbe wasn't defined yet tho, at least as far as I know. In fact just yesterday he seemed closer to Aleti—unless my sources lied o.O I guess I'll have to wait, but I find it weird to choose Roma over Aleti at this particular moment.

Edit: Oh ok, so I got confirmed the deal of Iturbe to Roma for 30M. While I don't share his decision, he'll surely help make Roma better. I have no idea what will happen with Aleti now, tho.

And they're controversial, lol. In what way are Costa and Cesc not controversial signings? :P I meant it as there was a lot of talk going on around both of them, though, not in a bad way.

ah, I thought that you meant the signings themselves weren't good haha

"Can read Wenger like a book"

"Surprised by his signings."
