SPOILERS! Pokemon Sword and Shield Datamine Thread

I looked at the horses, really loved Spectrier and was like "well this is an easy choice." Then I look at the comments people are making about it and am surprised that it seems like I'm the only one, oof. But I love Ghost Pokemon and actually really like the missing ankles.

Metagame SS OU Metagame Discussion Thread v5 (usage in post #547)

Alternatively, you can use Grass Knot to hit Hippo and TTar just as hard with 100% accuracy, or Ice Beam for Hippo and hitting Dragapult harder. Rillaboom is an excellent partner for that G-Slowbro set. Yes, Grass is not a great offensive typing, but Grassy Slide is almost 1.5x as strong as...

Sun & Moon UU Speculation and Discussion Thread - Updated with UU Alpha!

Max HP and max SpA is an option if you want to hit harder, but there is no reason to run max speed with that pitiful of a Speed stat. If you wanted to do that, you might as well just use Ninetails at that point and vacate SR to another team member. Also, I added another replay that showcases...

Sun & Moon UU Speculation and Discussion Thread - Updated with UU Alpha!

It's good enough to check Fire, Flying, and Bug types. Last gen, there was a Taunt + Roost bulky set that ran two other moves between Toxic, EQ, Stone Edge, or Stealth Rock. The spread was 248 HP / 156 Def / 104 Spe with a Jolly nature to outspeed Crobat. In theory, it's good, but I've never...

Which is why I said "something like Mega Aggron," meaning an incredibly bulky 'Mon, especially a Mega, that could take its place since it's unavailable. Sorry if that was unclear. I do believe Slowbro is the only option as far as Megas go, or maybe a bulky MegaDactyl.

Sun & Moon UU Speculation and Discussion Thread - Updated with UU Alpha!

Well, I'd like to vouch for the viability of defensively inclined balance/semi-stall. Balance is tough to play, but if you make use of some key defensive Pokemon that have dropped (like Mew), it's possible to be successful. After some playing around with Shiinotic, I'd like to say that it (and...

Sun & Moon UU Speculation and Discussion Thread - Updated with UU Alpha!

After the initial shock, I can't help but chuckle at the current UU metagame. Probably about 15 or 20 Mons will move back up to OU once the newness of Sun and Moon wears off. For example, Azumarill is likely going to go back up to OU by usage alone. Tapu Fini does not replace Azu in any way and...

    Pokémon Guzzlord

Thanks for the feedback! I'd just like to point out that Quiet is pretty safe even if I decide to go with a full special set. Even after the Speed reduction, it's still enough to beat Toxapex and the other base 35's. I can't think of anything relevant besides the rare Araquanid where those few...

    Pokémon Celesteela

This is very true. It's better to go mixed or special so you can use Flamethrower because it handles so much more. Heatran walls a pure special set, but that's what teammates are for.

    Pokémon Araquanid

Mono Bug is not quite the worst, by the way. Rock and Ghost struggle a lot too due to weaknesses and lack of variety, respectively. Bugs are at least pretty diverse. Anyway, I kind of like the idea of Rain Dance since, on non-Banded sets, you don't really need anything besides Liquidation...

    Pokémon Araquanid

I saw Soak, but you don't actually need it to beat Toxapex 1v1. As long as you outspeed (which you will even with a hindering nature), Sub is all you need to win, since it can't touch you behind it. Pressure from Infestation with an eventual Scald burn negating Black Sludge recovery, in...

    Pokémon Toxapex

You've got to realize some trade-offs though. Toxapex does little more than sit there due to its lack of offensive presence - it's a wall with access to T-Spikes and that's about it. Slowbro has good SpA and a colorful movepool to use it, and it can even function as a lure at the same time. In...

    Pokémon Araquanid

If you want something defensive, it's best to go tanky since Araquanid has an absolutely abysmal support movepool. The RestTalk set in the OP is fantastic actually, especially with rain support. The problems Crawdaunt suffers from are being prone to burn and having a worse defensive typing and...

    Pokémon Tapu Lele

Or, if and when Mega Diancie or Mega Gardevoir get released, Fairy spam with Tapu Lele via support from Magearna and one of those wall-breaking Mega Fairies (note: nothing is immune to Fairy)...*shudders* Also, I'm trying to decide Modest or Timid. For a Life Orb set, would Timid be the go-to...
