Welcome everyone to SM CAP's 2nd Official Project: Partner this Pokemon! Hosted by myself, every week I will put forth any legal Pokemon in the SM CAP Metagame (Usually either a CAP Mon or a new SM Mon) and you, the community, will submit a Pokemon you think partners well with it! You will post both the set of the Pokemon in mind and then a short description of why you think your Pokemon is the best.
Rules and Mechanics
Here's the process of how this competition will be hosted
Winning: If you win, then congratulations! You'll have your name and Pokemon featured on the SM CAP "Partner this Pokemon" Hall of Fame yay.
Copying Pokemon: Please don't. This just ruins the fun we can get out of this competition and is against the rules. You'll be DQd from the week if you were found copying other people's Pokemon. If you suspect someone of doing this, PM me. Hopefully no one would do this but take this as a warning.
On Bandwagoning / Namevoting: Please don't do this either. Don't just vote for a guy just because they have a ton of votes already or they're famous. Don't feel pressured to vote for anyone for any reason other than having the best team. If you really think a Pokemon is the best out there, vote for that Pokemon; don't let anything pressure you to do otherwise. Bandwagoning just ruins the spirit of this competition and isn't cool :[
On Suggestions: If you have any suggestions for this competition, feel free to PM me. It'll be considered but there are ultimately no promises if it'll be implemented though.
Tiers: A week is for SM CAP unless stated otherwise.

A classic from Gen 6! Since sparktrain sniped my Tapu Lele, I'm going with another priority stopper. Rotom-W can switch into most priority moves (rip Gale Wings though) and can make a great Voltturn core with Syclant. It can switch into Mega Metagross and Weavile with ease (unlike Tapu Lele). I'd prefer Spikes on Syclant since Rotom-W forces swiches, but Rotom-W will probably be one of Syclant's partners for balance teams.

Due to the influx of Faeries in SuMo, Revenankh has had trouble getting established in the CAP meta. What Mr. Muk does, luckily, is fight these Fairy types for it and take out Revenankh greatest threat: Clefable. Muk also can check the Tapus fairly easily, as Tapu Bulu has a quad weakness to Poison Jab, Muk can switch into Psychic without consequence, and Tapu Koko and Fini do not appreciate a Poison Jab to the face. It also has the added benefit of Poisoning foes using its STAB moves, which could help give Revenankh KOs. Finally, it has great special defense, meaning it can digest special attacks fairly well and punish the attacker.

Mega Sableye is a great Pokemon to pair with Pyroak, as it provides amazing utility, hazard defense, and good Special bulk to pair with Pyroak's Physical bulk. Typing-wise, these two don't share any common weaknesses. Pyroak resists Fairy, which Mega Sableye is weak to, while Sableye resists Poison, which Pyroak appreciates from time to time. Pyroak is also a decent switch-in into Scald and Lava Plume, which often bypass Mega Sableye's ability defense. Mega Sableye is a capable Rapid Spin blocker, meaning Pyroak's Stealth Rocks will be out on the field much longer. Magic Bounce is a counter to opposing Stealth Rock and Toxic users, two things Pyroak doesn't particularly like. Knock Off is really good for Pyroak too, as eliminating items from Choice users (or just items in general) will help Pyroak live longer. Mega Sableye being a decent switch-in into Knock Off also helps Pyroak keep his Leftovers. Dual status for Mega Sableye is interesting, since it can't be Taunted and gives Pyroak a hand against otherwise prominent threats including Tomohawk (Sableye beats it one on one), [Mega] Crucibelle, (cripples it), and Tyranitar (while still a threat, it being Burned helps in the long run), among others.
Week 4: Trick Room Fidgit by sparktrain

- Trick Room
- Fleur Cannon
- Flash Cannon
- Volt Switch
It's never a bad idea to have a backup setter on a Trick Room team, and Magearna's typing and stat distribution make it a great candidate for the job. Though Fidgit and Magearna do share a Ground weakness, this can be patched up fairly well with Shuca Berry (lefties aren't really necessary), allowing Magearna to get off another use of TR against Pokemon it normally wouldn't be able to, such as Landorus-T. The set itself is pretty straightforward. Max HP and SpA, minimum Speed, Trick Room, STABs to hit stuff, and Volt Switch to pivot out to a breaker.
Week 5: Life Orb Stratagem by reachzero

Tapu Lele is an ideal partner for Stratagem because it fulfills one of the prime desires for Stratagem--breaking Special walls--while also providing protection that no other Pokemon can viably offer: immunity to priority attacks. While Stratagem itself is unfortunately immune to Psychic Terrain when it uses Levitate, all-out attacker Stratagem is virtually always found on heavy offense teams, since it doesn't offer the utility of, say, Tapu Koko. This kind of team will nearly always carry Pokemon like Pheromosa and Syclant, which practically demand Tapu Lele. In particular, when Psychic Terrain is up, Mega Metagross and Mega Scizor are entirely removed as threats to heavy offense, and these two Pokemon are major factors against the viability of the archetype. Mind Plate on Lele lets you actually break Chansey and is a major issue for stall, an archetype against which Stratagem can often feel like dead weight.

That being said, the best partner for Arghonaut, as listed here, is unquestionably Heatran. It hard checks or outright counters a bunch of Pokemon on Argho's counter list, and lures and destroys others. Heatran resists Air Slash, though its odds of threatening defensive Tomohawk out are unfortunate, since Magma Storm does 47.3 - 56% (a 25.8% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery) and Tomohawk to spam Roost to fish for misses. It's still a good pivot against defensive Tomohawk.Heatran 4x resists Grass and threatens out Bulu (unless it switches in on Superpower), Mega Venusaur (without Earthquake), etc. Heatran lures bulky Waters, most notably Tapu Fini, trapping with Magma Storm and destroying it with Bloom Doom. For Recover Arghonaut, Pyroak is arguably a better partner. But for Bulk Up Arghonaut, Heatran is practically mandatory.

So, first of all, Kit struggles with a couple of mons such as Colo, Cyclohm and Tomo, all of which it draws in (especially the latter two I guess). All of the above are also prime opportunities for Kit to U-Turn to Kerfluffle for it to blast off one of its powerful Moonblasts. Alternatively, these also provide an opportunity for Kerf to click Parting Shot on a predicted switch and keep the VoltTurn chain going.
On the other hand, Kerf draws in bulky Psychic- and Fairy-types, all of which can be taken advantage of with Kit's STABs. Kit's Steel typing also allows it to pivot into Kerf's Flying and Poison weaknesses in a pinch, perhaps less so for the latter since Poison is usually seen on stuff like Mollux and Plasmanta which threaten Kit with their other STABs. Speaking of Mollux and Plasmanta, Kit's Steel STAB frees up one of Kerf's moveslots and lets it run HP Ground over Sludge Wave for it to chunk those 4x weaks.

Physically Defensive Cyclohm and Specially Defensive Celesteela form a solid defensive core. Celesteela covers Cyclohm's weaknesses to Dragon, Fairy, and Ground, while Cyclohm handles Celesteela's weaknesses to Fire and Electric. Together, they do an excellent job of handling several of the best Megas in the metagame, including Metagross, Crucibelle, and Scizor. Cyclohm running Fire Blast makes it easier for Celesteela to run Earthquake over Flamethrower, which allows Celesteela to better handle Heatran and Magnezone among other things that could otherwise threaten the core.
